This guy works across the street from me. I noticed this morning that the car is as clean as it can be made without a deep cut & rub, wheels clean, tires shined, (remaining)trim bright. Many may consider it an old shitbox, but it’s his ride and he takes pride in it. For that, and for keeping an old car on the road past its life expectancy, I salute him. Few things are more Jalop than loving the one you’re with.

Few things are more Jalop than a Ford Tempo. Truth.

Damn, I tried writing an entire post attempting to say something along the same lines, and I couldn’t get it to come out quite so eloquently.

I know where there’s a Tempo in town here, and I think it even runs - but it’s not this nice.

My Dad had a 92(i think) Topaz, that was passed down to my older sister, and who eventually it sold and upgraded to a 88 Volvo 740,silver with the plush velour blue cloth interior, perfection. He had gotten tired of paying for gas in his Ram 2500 V10, and got it purely for MPG reasons. he liked it just fine, best memory of it was when a big buck jumped straight over it.

the when my Brother go married my sister-in-law had a 93 Tempo it had a lot of electrical gremlins tho, we were pretty sure it had gotten into an accident at some point, or maybe had some flood or water damage. That one was also replaced by a Volvo 740, this time a 91 wagon.

I can’t really take credit for it. My first thought was of Stephen Stills’ song, “Love the one you’re with”, and it seemed to fit well.

Gak. I saw a dude doing that this morning. I don’t know how people do that. Better that than blowing smoke out their window into my ventilation system, though.

Aye, good song. I knew that song too though and I didn’t think of it!

I’m a musician (well, a drummer...), and I’ve played it a lot... like, a lot. Songs come to mind quickly to describe many things in my life, including Ford Tempos, apparently.

You’re a drummer, you should be all about the Tempo!

I saw one a week or so ago pulling into the local car wash. That there is still a Tempo that hasn’t dissolved in the rust belt was enough to make me do a double take on my way by.
